News from Mexico!

Derek called last night around midnight- good thing I was still up. He said that he's having a great time. Him and one of his friends that went are having lots of fun playing with the orphans in Monterrey. He bought some souveniers the other day. Last night they walked up a mountain to look at the city from above. He said it was amazing. Today Pastor Tom (from our church) was preaching, then they were going to travel to another village to do evening services there. The team passed out tracts yesterday and invited people to come to the church service this morning. They passed out over 2000 tracts in a half hour. WOW!

Monday, they will paint, do a ladies' Bible study, Dr. John will have his "clinic", they will invite people to the evening service, do a work project, then do night services with Pastor Tom preaching and testimonies.

Tuesday they will travel to the next village and do it all over again. Same Wednesday and Thursday. Friday, they will travel back to Monterrey. Saturday morning, they will leave very early in order to drive back to McAllen, Texas. Their flight should get home around 7:30pm. And get home just in time to sleep a little and get up bright and early for Sunday morning!

Meanwhile, Friday night I had a Girls Night In with the girls from the youth group. We stayed up til 3:45 in the morning! We went old school with the music and listened to Backstreet Boys, NSYNC, and 98 degrees. Only 3 girls knew the songs. Man, that made me feel REALLY old. Then we had a dress contest. I gave them plastic table cloths and they got into 3 groups and made dresses. In order for the judging to be non-partial, we walked over to Brian and Leslie's house for them to be judges. It was quite the night. After they all left, I crashed.

While Derek is in Mexico, I'm also "babysitting" two teens whose parents were a part of the missions team. The boy is in 7th grade and the girl is in 10th. So far it hasn't been bad. It should be interesting.

Well, time to take a nap! I'm exhausted. Please keep praying for Derek and the missions team. God is definitely working in Mexico!
